Job Description

The main responsibility of this position is to gather the business requirements within credit, and translate that into meaningful

reporting to meet the business needs. The required business intelligence needs to be produced and automated in an effective

manner that will be robust and easy to maintain. Also to provide assistance to the project management of the Enterprise Data

Minimum Education BSc Computer Science (Hons) ; BSc (hons) Maths & Stats; B Engineering (Industrial or Electronics) ; BCom (hons) Informatics

Minimum Experience 5 years’ experience as a Senior statistician in the financial sector, and have data warehouse and Business intelligence experience

Key Result Areas; Key Performance Inputs / Activities

1 Writing of business requirements specifications 1. Writing business requirement specifications

2. Are able to understand and liaise with the business stakeholders to identify the requirements

and documenting the requirements

3. Determine current state of business requirements, business terms, business rules and data


4. Take a lead role in the project definition and analysis phases for BI projects

2 Produce business intelligence reports 1. Translate business reporting requirements into an effective and usable reporting output

2. Data analyst will be required to interrogate the results to ensure that output is accurate and


3 Ad-hoc Analytics 1. Provide ad-hoc analytics based on business requests

2.Utilize analytics tools (SAS, Excel, SQL) to provide actionable insights

3. Utilize data to support recommendations

4 Project management 1. Support the project manager where needed

5 Business Intelligence support 1. Automation of Business users reporting needs, consulting with users, best practise solutions

to optimise reporting, identify opportunities to utilise data and so drive optimisation of analytics,

forecasts, risk mitigation and marketing opportunities.

2. Develop and maintain the understanding of relevant business processes

3. Review current processes for business opportunities by means of appropriate business


4. Understand and interpret specifications of the model from the business by liaising with

different stakeholders

5. Prepare a project plan in terms of requirements for completion an implementation

6. Prepare and analyse data

6 Mentoring and training 1. Assist team members with new tasks in respect of unfamiliar aspects of the job

2. Train team members in respect of technical aspects and business aspect of the job as well as

for succession planning

3. Dedicated understudy to train, coach and oversee all work done

7 Change Management 1. Involves writing the appropriate Specifications needed to implement a change process or

recommendation, after obtaining the necessary approval from Credit committee members

2. Oversee the change to be done (work with Business Analysts)

3. Test and validate functionality of the implementation process

4. Ensure that signing off of the final implementation is done

5. Maintain complete documentation of any follow up changes

6. Specifications written for Operational Scorecard and Bureau Scorecard for SEM

implementation process
