Job Description


• To provide Information Management Leadership, Information Results Management and IT Management practices

• To provide the practice of converging on strategy, information, people, process and technology through enterprise architecture

• To formulate, execute and control on an Information Management strategy

• To provide guidance and execution of IT Governance, IT Risk Management, IT Security Management and Compliance


Information Leadership

• Develop service offerings to members thereby improving satisfaction and delight levels

• Involved in business purpose, creating new business opportunities, crossing business boundaries and dimensions, and supports business direction

• Service offerings may take shape in the form of Seminars, Events, Workshops, software, hardware sales, toolkits

• IM Governance

• Business/IT Alignment

• Risk Management

• Business Value of IT

• Accountability and measurement

• The effective implementation of King III

• The effective implementation of an IT Governance Framework

• IT Governance Committee owner

• The development of the IM policies, processes, procedures, standards and guidelines

• IM Compliance – to provide leadership and management for compliance to regulations (e.g. ECT Act, PAI Act, POPI)

• To provide the right information, to the right people at the right time so that they can make effective decisions by leveraging the technology

• Formulation, implementation and control of IM Strategy

• Development of an IM Strategy map, scorecard and roadmap

Business Architecture

• Business Process Management – identification of core processes that require optimisation

• Implementation of workflow so as to institutionalize business processes

• Documents business value chain and supporting processes in support of overall organisational business strategy

IT Architecture

• Develop an IT Architecture that is aligned to the Business Architecture

• The development of a Target Architecture Framework model

• The development of architectural guiding principles

• The development of IT standards

• The development of the relevant architectural, policies, process, procedures, standards and guidelines

Business Results Management

• Optimum use of information and technology, business effectiveness, supports business results and is involved in business activity

• Identifies business information requirements required to appropriately measure and deliver on the organizations strategic ambitions through business intelligence methods

• Development of Knowledge Management processes

• Development of a Business Intelligence Capability

• Develop a Business Process Management Capability

• Identifies enabling technology needs of the business

• Determine the company’s technology roadmap

• Develop, implement and manage IT governance, security, change management principles, etc

• Development and enhancement of business applications, website and other relevant applications in line with business objectives

IM Programme and Project Management

• Development of a programme and project management methodology

• Adherence to the methodology

• Methodology (initiation, planning, controlling, execution, and implementation)

Management of IT (applications and infrastructure)

Provision of technology support to the organisation (desktops, printers, PABX, phone units, projectors, servers, bandwidth, server capacity, LAN and WAN, etc)

• Provision of support for all applications

• Accountable for IT change management as it relates to any hardware, applications, software and/ or software code within the organisation

• Formulation of contractual relationships and management of all IT related vendors

Financial management

Accountable for the preparation and management of the information management and information technology budgets (opex and capex)

• Accountable for producing updated spend forecasts (opex and capex)

• Accountable for the development of project plans and execution of any IM and IT related spend across the organisation

• Accountable for return on investment and Total cost of ownership measurements and returns as it relates to IT spend

• Responsible for measurement of returns on all projects initiated by SAICA

• ROI and TCO

• Benefits tracking

Desired Skills and Experience

Key Competencies Required

Formal Education

Suitable Degree/Diploma in Information Systems/Information Technology and/or MBA degree


Proficient knowledge of business strategy and balanced scorecard management

Information Technology

• Proficient in the MS Office Suite of products

• Deep understanding of Enterprise Architecture

• Deep understanding of Information Management Strategy

• Deep understanding of IT Governance, Risk Management


• 10 years IT experience

• At least 3 years in senior management position

• Management Consulting experience

• Strategy formulation, implementation and control

• Business experience

• Project and Programme Management
