Job Description

A dynamic firm of consulting engineers is looking to recruit a Contracts Manager for a large exciting rail project in Mozambique.

Minimum Requirement:

BSc Construction Management/Engineering or equivalent

10 years' experience on heavy civil engineering projects

5 years' experience as a Contracts Manager

Rail experience would be a distinct advantage.

Responsibilities:

Prepare cost estimates and cost plans for the allocated contracts.

Prepare contract cash flow projections and indicated outcome reports.

Participate in value management programme including required value engineering and life cycle costing activities.

Assist with the development of the contract procurement plan in association with the Project Managers and ensure it’s implementation.

Assist with the pre-qualification of contractors, vendors and suppliers.

Prepare tender documentation, issue tender documents, adjudicate tenders and prepare tender reports.

Prepare contract documents for signature.

Review consultant and contractor bonds, insurances and payment guarantees monitoring continuous documentation compliance.

Evaluate and manage change orders and contractor’s claims. Review contractor’s proposals and negotiate and formalize contract variations and claims in accordance with the change management procedures.

Assist in the preparation of consultant’s and contractor’s monthly certificates based on reviewing their invoices and submission to the Employer for payment.

Prepare allocated contracts cost reports for presentation to Contracts Manager.

Participate in allocated contract meetings associated with financial and contract related issues.

Assist with the contract progress related issues (eg. monitoring progress, extensions of time, attendance at progress meetings, etc.)

Assist in the review of the contractor cost loading of the construction schedule

Undertake the allocated contract administration activities (eg. provide interpretations of the contract clauses and conditions, negotiate and agree rates, manage the consultants works, etc)

Manage the allocated contracts close out commercial activities – final accounts.

Review final payment certificates and evaluate release of retention

Read all correspondence sent through Share related to allocated contracts
