Job Description

A large Construction Firm is looking to employ a Development Director to create and execute a strategy to secure, implement and maintain a portfolio of real estate projects.

Minimum Requirements:

Relevant Graduate degree – BSc Engineering/BComm Hons etc

Post grad qualification in Business would be advantageous (MBA, etc.)

Minimum of 7 years’ proven management experience in property development, ideally with cross-border experience.

Experience required:

• Sound knowledge of property/construction development as a discipline, including:

? Relevant regulatory framework

? Project structuring

? Project management

? Property structuring and financing

• Sound engineering, design and construction knowledge

• Comprehensive risk management skills encompassing the risk landscape

• Sound quantitative analytical and macro-economic skills, including knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g. Companies Act, CPA, Competitions Act and King III)

• Strategy formulation and execution skills

• Strong relationship building, conflict management, communication and influencing skills

• Ability to lead in a complex, multi-disciplinary environment (strong managerial skills are essential)

Key requirements of the position include:

1. Development and implementation of an effective property development strategy for a specific region aligned to company’s development strategy

2. Project sourcing

3. Evaluation of feasibility and risk profile of potential projects

4. Effective project structuring

5. Effective management of the implementation of approved projects

6. Effective management of asset during operational phase

7. Effective financial management

8. Effective commercial and technical management

9. Compliance and risk management

10. Effective stakeholder relationship management

11. Effective teamwork, self-management and alignment with group values

This role encompasses a strong focus on networking and strategic relationship building, identifying and evaluating potential opportunities in terms of financial and technical feasibility and managing the implementation of approved projects through leading a professional team.
