Job Description

Our client who is well established within the telecommunications industry is lookinig for a Logistics Co-Ordinator to join their team

Purpose of the Job

To Co-ordinate the optimization of inventory items by applying best practice forecasting & procurement with the aim of optimizing the supply chain. To manage Suppliers database and be involved with all negotiations.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

•Monitoring of planning parameters, including factors affecting customer service, demand and deployment planning and inventory on all handsets;

•Performing detailed analyses using the appropriate systems and reports (e.g. Oracle);

•Analyze and understand product categories by sales, shrink, and inventory levels as well as competitive and industry analysis;

•Ensures inventory is at optimal levels, while maintaining customer service levels at the lowest possible cost;

•Monitors inventory and employs the appropriate stocking strategy;

Maintain Supplier Database

Maintain a Suppliers database that contains all price negotiations per supplier

•Keep record of all price changes, rebates, price claims and discounts.

•Ensure price changes are distributed to all relevant parties and verify if these changes have been executed.

•Serve as a liaison between company and suppliers, resolve inquiries and complaints

•Create and maintain a database on suppliers performance i.e. delivery accuracy, product availability, and support.

Assist in determining current landed cost price of inventory goods

•Calculate all price claims that are due company

•Notify Suppliers of all price claims to be issued to them.

•Follow-up with finance until claim has been invoiced or credit note has been received.

•Request to change purchase order price if applicable.

•Follow up with finance with respect to current status of accounts i.e. payments

•Obtain quotes from local distributors for handset pricing, purchase and sales


•Monitor all activities at Freight and Forwarding Company

•Keep shipment register on the share drive updated.

•Keep the stock report updated with next delivery date on all goods on backorder.

•Notify supplier if Cargo needs to be expedited or de-expedited.

•Assist sales staff, order entry staff and warehouse staff with an ETA on all inventory stock when requested.

•Liaise with suppliers with regards to medium to long term production forecasts.

•Continuously refines the planning processes, incorporates customer-based forecasting and leverages best-in-class solutions to improve accuracy;

•Identifies and communicates opportunities and risks to management on a proactive basis within and across the customer service and planning group;

•Create Oracle requisitions

•Ensure optimum inventory levels exist to cover customer demand and implement pro-active measures to ensure customer service KPIs are exceeded.

•Manage the level of obsolete and slow moving stock.

•Proactively manage the resolution of any backorder and out of stock situations. Communicate tactical supply issues to key internal customers.

•Assist in coordinate the phase-in / phase-out of all new and revised products. Monitor the level of obsolescence associated with assigned phase-in programs to the minimum practicable.

•Obsolete / Slow & Non moving stock: report and analyze all of these stock types – ensure clear defined strategy is planned working with Sales. Full accountability for reporting and managing the inventory levels of these stocks.

•Update & Maintain all required reports

•Prepare weekly/monthly management reports

Health and Safety Compliance

•Conform and adhere to Safety, Health and Environmental legislative requirements.

•Report any health and safety concerns/incidents in the workplace to the manager / health and safety representative.

•Assist Cell C to establish and maintain a fully compliant Healthy and Safe Work Environment.

•Attend the Safety, Health and Environmental workshops as required by management.

Perform any related duties as requested by Management

Skills & Experience

5 + years international purchasing and payment experience in a multi-cultural environment, within the telecommunications industry.

2 + years experience in a Finance role – preferable in accounts payables.

2 + years experience in managing vendor relationships.

Knowledge of the principles and practices of business administration.

Understanding of the fundamental procedures involved in a purchasing operation.

Understanding of the mobile telephone industry.

Educational Requirements

B.Tech / diploma in supply chain / logistics.
