A leading international consulting firm is for four (4) Quantity Surveyors - 2 Senior and 2 Assistants for major projects across South Africa.
This position requires at least 5+ years' experience in the Project Quantity Surveying arena, 2 yrs of which must have been at the at head office undertaking standard Quantity Surveying Tasks such as Measurement for compilation of Bills of Quantities and Estimating.
The candidates must have extensive knowledge and hands on experience with Contracts Management, Cost Controls and Planning and scheduling.
The ideal candidate should have contract/commercial experience especially with claims, scope variation, change procedures, and compensation events.
A solid background is required in taking an estimate and rolling it into a cost controlled environment and as well as developing a baseline for execution for aforementioned areas, schedule and cost forecast/plan.
Must have multiple discipline experience and have worked in the oil – gas industry or power generation industry and performed as the project controls lead on a complex project in excess of 500M+ USD.
Preference will be given if experience has covered all phases of the project (Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and commissioning).
Standard Tasks are and not limited to:
The scope is not project wide but contract based, please see the tasks below in respect to contract (s):
Preparing tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities with the architect and/or the client;
Undertaking costs analysis for repair and maintenance project work;
Assisting in establishing a client’s requirements and undertaking feasibility studies;
Performing ‘contract’ risk and value management and cost control;
Advising on procurement strategy;
Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks;
Preparing and analysing costings for tenders;
Assess and oversee contractors allocating work to subcontractors;
Analyse and keep track on site labour, plant and material procurement, movements and utilisation;
Assess contractor variations and claims with Planner, Cost Engineer PCM and PM and approvals/rejections therein;
Assess and keep track of contractual allowable costs and disallowed costs and obtain Contractor agreements therein;
Provide status of Variations and claims;
Analyse and provide feedback to Project team on Contractors cost flow and cash flow and ensure it’s in line with Programme forecast
Analysing outcomes and writing detailed progress reports;
Preparation of the BoQ;
Analysis of the Contractors BoQ and measurement technique;
Adjustment post agreement with Contractor of the BoQ;
Physical site remeasure of Quanitities;
Valuing completed work and arranging payments;
Managing Bonds and retention release;
Providing Contract status Reports regarding commitment vs. expenditure vs. ffc values;
Manage Valuations from application to payment;
Maintaining awareness of the different building contracts in current use;
Provide Life cycle costing;
Understanding the Quality Control process;
Understanding the implications of health and safety regulations
