Our client is looking to hire Java Developers to be based in Gauteng. The team includes project managers, developers and maintains both internal developed software and 3rd party vendor software in support of the various business units under the finance banner, as well as businesses across entire banking divisions.

Strong experience in Jasper ETL, Jasper Reports, Jasper Reports Server
Strong analytical, problem solving, and organization/time management skills
Thorough understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Rapid Application Development (RAD) are critical
Proficient and highly knowledgeable with J2EE/JEE standards, Java 1.4+ (Enums, Annotations, Generics, Autoboxing, etc), EJB, JSP technologies, frameworks and enterprise application development in general
Strong knowledge of Struts2 and MVC 2/3 framework
Strong knowledge of working with XML technologies
Thorough understanding of Web Services (REST, SOAP), Maven and Ant, Hibernate and/or EJB3, Struts, Seam CVS/SVN
Experience working with JBoss and Tomcat application servers running in Windows/Linux environments
Experience with messaging, JMS, MQ, ESB (preferably JBoss ESB), and SOA
Strong experience with SQL in general, although DB2 and Oracle experience is preferred
Experience with reading and writing UML
Experience with programming best practices including, but not limited to: Design Patterns, Refactoring, Unit Testing
Past experience in a highly collaborative, team-driven software engineering environment is essential
Formal tertiary qualification in Computer science, or engineering is a plus
Outstanding inter-personal and communication skills
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, and the ability to interact with all levels of technical and non-technical staff
Knowledge of JAVA environments and implementations
Good working knowledge of relational database concepts
Proven track record in a formal development environment
Understand JAVA Architecture and Design concepts and principles with experience of systems development and knowledge and experience of system development tools
Proficient in the use of project management tools and relevant methodologies
Must be a self-starter with integrity and be able to work with little supervision
Must be a team player and able to work with and through others
Must be fluent in English and have excellent written communication skills
Must be able to create technical specifications and document technical recruitments from business/ functional requirements
Must be able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high – pressure, team environment
Experience with all phases of a project lifecycle development process (analysis, design, code, test, migrate)
Experience in preparing and presenting to technical and business audiences
Problem solving skills (analysis and business / process solution design)
High quality of output
Analytical thinking and decision making ability
Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks concurrently
Ability to liaise with end users
Proven leadership and motivational skills and experience in mentoring staff·

The role requires expertise in Java and middle-tier/middleware technology.
The position will require working with other developers and architects, technology teams, and users to analyse and understand requirements, design and develop new services, integrate existing products and services, and other external systems to deliver a high performance middleware solution.
The selected individual will participate in all aspects of SDLC, including analysis, design, development, benchmarking, testing, deployment, integration, and maintenance of software solutions. The successful candidate must also be able to work effectively in both structured projects/teams and non-structured R&D while contributing constructive solutions. Prior experience with financial products, integration, SOA, ESB (preferably JBoss ESB) is required.
